School-Year Camp Club Guide
Position Type: Part-Time, Seasonal (September – June)
Schedule: Afternoons, 1–5 days per week depending on site and club assignment
Location: TBA (NW Washington, DC partner school sites)
Position Description:
As an Afterschool Camp Club Guide, you’ll lead and support club-based programming at one or more of our school-year partner sites. This is a hands-on, part-time role ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with children in grades K–8. You’ll be responsible for delivering creative, structured club sessions (e.g., STEM, Sports, Cooking, Arts) using provided curriculum while ensuring camper safety, maintaining positive group dynamics, and contributing to a joyful learning environment.
This role includes planning, active facilitation, and cleanup for each club session. Guides are also expected to follow all Discover Fun Camp safety protocols and communication standards and represent the organization with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assigned clubs (e.g., STEM, Sports, Arts, Cooking) using provided curriculum and materials.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of campers.
- Supervise campers during clubs, transitions, and dismissal.
- Build positive, supportive relationships with campers and families.
- Set up materials prior to each club session (1.5 hours prep).
- Facilitate the 1-hour club session with engagement and enthusiasm.
- Clean up and reset the space after clubs (0.5 hours).
- Follow all Discover Fun Camp safety protocols and SOPs.
- Communicate needs or concerns promptly to the Site Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in group settings (camp, classroom, after-school program, etc.).
- Ability to lead engaging, structured activities for various ages.
- Strong classroom or group management skills.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Reliability and punctuality are a must.
- Must pass background check and reference screening.
Position Details
- Hours:
- Monday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM (7 hrs) at select sites
- Tuesday–Friday: Club days are 3 hrs total (prep, club, cleanup) per day worked.
- Guides may work 1–5 days/week depending on club assignments.
- Pay Rate: $17-20/hour
- Work Locations: NW Washington DC
- Season Dates: September 9, 2025 – June 2026
- Option to accrue additional hours for other projects on a contract basis
